Welcome to the 2nd Nanyang International Music Competition!

​

When individuals are in the presence of others, magical things can happen. ‘Musicking’ or the act of making music within a community constitutes what it means to live in a society and to exist as a music loving community. With our diverse cultural environment, the possibilities of multi-cultural integrations and collaborations present limitless opportunities. How fortunate then are we to have music serve as catalyst to ignite these magical moments.

When Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (School of Music) decided to launch the Nanyang International Music Competition, we deliberated on what should be its objective and so we concluded that it would be to provide a platform for musicians to challenge themselves and to reach higher standards of performance, but more importantly, we wish to foster musical exchange within a supportive community and to inspire everyone to find meaning in belonging to a community of like-minded people. Aligned with the NAFA mission to inspire learning and growth through the arts, we hope that this competition would inculcate creative attitudes and a spirit of curiosity and responsibility in our young musicians as they come together to showcase their talents.
